Never Abandon Hope
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)
God ministers hope to his people through faith in his promises. If you lack the joy and peace you want to see in your life, then fight to keep believing his promises. Joy doesn’t materialize out of thin air, and it’s not a “magic” work of the Spirit. God’s promises in his word are the conduits of our confidence.
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope. (Romans 5:3–4)
“Everything God has ever said in the Bible is written to give Christians hope.”
In God’s gracious design, the Christian life spirals upward in ever-increasing joy, peace, and hope. As you continue to fight to trust God more, he’ll grace you with more joy, peace, and hope — even in suffering and trials.
As you learn to walk by faith more and more every day, you’ll find that your joy in him will increase until it finally reaches its peak when you see Jesus face to face and walk with him by sight.
