How Does God Help Us Read the Bible?
We know we need God’s help in Bible reading. Because we can’t make ourselves worshippers of God by our own will or strength, we rely on God himself to change our hearts and make us worshippers — we rely on God to help us fulfill his purpose for Bible reading.
But how does he do it?
He opens our minds to see the glory of Jesus in the Bible (Luke 24:27–35), he shines the glory of Jesus in our hearts (2 Corinthians 4:6), he opens the eye of our hearts so that we can see what he wants us to see (Ephesians 1:18). On our own, we are like blind people sitting in darkness. It takes God’s supernatural power to open our eyes and reveal beauty to our hearts — we need supernatural help if we are to read the Bible rightly.
