This new series of messages is meant to emphasize the objective grounds of assurance. It is to show what God did and is doing sovereignly by his own initiative to guarantee the salvation of his people. I want us to focus on the reality of God’s unstoppable purposes and his unfailing plans and his unthwartable work to save us.

How we respond to God is crucial. But it is not as crucial as what God did for us to respond to. We need some fixed and unchanging points in the shifting skies of thought. We need to dwell on some things that we had nothing to do with and yet which make all the difference in the world for us. God uses this kind of unshakable reality to beget faith and hope and love.

Pray for me and with me as I prepare these messages, that they will be true, biblically balanced and powerful in the Holy Spirit to bring forth fruit for God. And pray for Dean as he plans the services: that everything will express worship and beget worship. Pray that we would both be good midwives of God’s new life.
